He attended Duke University School of Medicine, graduating with a M.D. degree in 1964. 1-us surgical background consists of a General Surgical Residency at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta, Georgia He then completed a Plastic Surgery Residency at Duke Medical Center in 1974, and is board certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is also a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons. Currently, Dr. Serafin is in private practice and an active member of the medical staffs at North Carolina Specialty Hospital, the Durham Veterans Administration Medical Center, Durham Regional Hospital, and Maria Parham Hospital in Henderson, NC.
